Squidoo and the Black Box

Squidoo has a relatively new module called the Black Box. Essentially it is just what it says.

It is a black box with white lettering. The type is larger and allows you to add emphasis to a title or a quotation. Visit my lens at Squidoo to see how I used it.

While at the lens read the module that gives two books by Seth Godin and Megan Casey, co-founders of Squidoo.com. Both of these are definitely worth the download. Beware though, you are going to have fireworks going off in your brain with ideas for lenses.

I am finding the building of a lens to be easier than I anticipated. Read a bit and you will find the instructions for the different types of modules to be very clear.

Experiment. It doesn’t hurt to try. If you decide you don’t like it, you can always go back and edit it.

Let me know if you have a lens so I can go check it out. That is part of the social in “social networking”.

“Squidoo Basics” Begins

The book that I have chosen to follow for my “How To Use Squidoo” journey is listed to the right. You might want to follow along if you are a beginner at Squidoo also.

I mentioned that I had created 2 modules yesterday — a text module and a guestbook. The text module is just what it says. It gives you the space to include content. You will notice that I have also included a large image in this module. I decided to use this clip art to symbolize what I need to be — a busy bee at the computer. It could have also been a photo.

The guestbook is somewhat like the comments section on this blog. It gives visitors to the lens an opportunity to express their opinions. It is my hope that the experts out there, and there are many, will give suggestions for this ambitious climb up the knowledge mountain.

If you too are taking this journey with me, be sure to post here.

Follow My Squidoo Progress!

Today is the beginning of a new learning experience for me. I am starting a journey to learn how to use Squidoo effectively.

I will be trying something new each day and I will blog about it here. Your suggestions would be appreciated. I began today by reading the book “Squidoo Basics” .

The first part of the book sufficiently convinced me that this was an internet tool that I must master. The reasons are many and powerful.

To start I signed up for an account, completed my profile, uploaded a picture and wrote two modules. A lens on Squidoo is made up of several modules. Updating the content will keep your lens in good shape.

I created the introduction module and used a piece of clipart with it to start the page. I created a guest book for visitors to leave a message.

Check back tomorrow to see what I am doing.
